Adamawa PDP Divided Over Governorship Ticket
The Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State has been thrown into fresh tension after a Turaki-led faction announced Andrew as its governorship candidate.
The decision came days after another camp loyal to the Wike group picked a different candidate for the same race.
The Turaki faction said the selection followed its internal process and reflected the will of its members. It maintained that Andrew emerged through its recognised structure within the party.
In contrast, the rival group had already held its own primary and produced another flagbearer, deepening the dispute within the party. Both sides continue to stand by their choices without backing down.
Political watchers say the parallel selections could weaken the party’s chances in the state if the crisis is not resolved soon.
They also note that the situation shows growing cracks within the PDP ahead of future elections.
