ADC Faction Expels Key Members
At a convention in Abuja on Tuesday, a faction of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark removed several party figures, including Nafiu Bala and lawmaker Leke Abejide.
Others affected include Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu and Elias Adiukwu, as the party moves to enforce discipline within its ranks.
The action followed a motion raised on the convention floor by Binos Yaroe and backed by delegates present. The decision was quickly approved, with party members citing actions they said were harmful to unity and progress as the reason for the expulsions.
The move comes amid a deepening leadership crisis within the party, which has split into rival camps with competing claims to control.
Tensions have continued to rise as disagreements over authority and structure remain unresolved across different blocs.
The dispute is now before the Supreme Court of Nigeria, where appeals linked to the leadership battle are being fast-tracked.
The crisis follows an earlier court ruling that affected recognition of party officials, while legal efforts are ongoing to determine the party’s leadership and future direction.
