ADC Predicts Political Storm As Jonathan Gets Cleared
The African Democratic Congress has predicted major political changes ahead of the 2027 election after former President Goodluck Jonathan was cleared by the Tanimu Turaki-led PDP faction as its sole presidential aspirant.
The ADC said Jonathan’s return to the presidential race could disrupt calculations within the ruling APC and opposition parties.
The party noted that his political influence and national recognition may reshape alliances before the next election.
The PDP faction also screened governorship aspirants from several states while granting Jonathan automatic clearance because of his previous roles as deputy governor, governor, vice president and president.
Former Vice President Namadi Sambo was represented during the exercise by former Niger governor Babangida Aliyu.
Political discussions have intensified following reports that Jonathan may officially submit his nomination form soon.
Analysts believe the move could trigger fresh realignments as parties prepare for what may become one of Nigeria’s toughest presidential contests in recent years.
