The African Democratic Congress has confirmed former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential election.

The announcement was made in Abuja after consultations involving party leaders, coalition partners and stakeholders from different parts of the country.

The party said Amaechi was selected because of his strong performance during the presidential primary and his long record in public service.

ADC leaders believe the partnership combines political experience and national reach, positioning the party as a strong contender ahead of the next general election.

According to the party, the Atiku-Amaechi ticket is designed to offer Nigerians an alternative platform focused on tackling economic difficulties, improving governance and addressing security concerns.

The ADC also pointed to Amaechi’s influence across the South-South and other parts of the country as a factor that could strengthen its electoral chances.

The party called on its members, youth groups, women organisations and coalition partners to support the ticket as preparations for the 2027 election gather pace.

ADC said the campaign would focus on economic recovery, job creation, national unity and restoring public confidence in leadership.
