Terrorists Imposes Levies On 26 Sokoto Communities
Residents of at least 26 communities in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have started pooling money to meet fresh levies imposed by armed bandits.
The demands have placed additional pressure on already struggling rural households as the wet season farming period approaches.
The affected communities were also reportedly denied access to their farmlands by the armed groups.
This restriction has disrupted preparations for the farming season and raised fears of reduced food production in the area.
Many residents, who rely mainly on agriculture for survival, now face uncertainty over their livelihoods.
With planting activities halted, families have turned to collective contributions in an attempt to avoid further attacks and possibly regain access to their farms.
The situation reflects ongoing insecurity challenges in parts of Sokoto State, where armed bandit activities continue to affect rural life, farming activities and local economic stability.
