ADC Youths Protest Hits INEC Offices
Young members of the African Democratic Congress have announced plans to protest against Independent National Electoral Commission chairman Joash Amupitan.
The mobilisation was disclosed by Balarabe Rufai, who said demonstrations would take place across selected states. The action is being organised under the banner of party youth groups.
The planned protests are scheduled for Monday in Lagos, Ogun State, and Jigawa State. Organisers said participants would converge at offices of the electoral body in each location.
The move is part of growing political tension as parties begin early positioning ahead of future elections.
In Lagos, protesters are expected to gather at Yaba College of Technology by 8 am. In Ogun, the demonstration is billed for 11 am at a Nigerian National Petroleum Company facility in Abeokuta.
Flyers circulating online carried messages calling for action, with organisers urging supporters to show up.
At the time of reporting, it remained unclear whether the protests had started.
The development adds to rising political activism among youth groups, with attention now on how authorities and the electoral body will respond.
