Ex Minister Certificate Forgery Takes New Turn In Court
Former minister Uche Nnaji and University of Nigeria Nsukka have moved to settle their dispute outside court over claims tied to academic records.
The case is before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Hauwa Yilwa is presiding. The matter followed allegations that led to Nnaji stepping down in 2025.
The case came up on Monday for hearing, but his lawyer told the court that both sides were exploring a peaceful resolution.
Lawyers representing the Minister of Education and the National Universities Commission said they were not informed earlier, but raised no objection to the request for more time.
Counsel for the university confirmed that talks were ongoing and backed the move, while asking the court to keep their application ready if discussions fail.
The judge declined to consider that request for now and adjourned the case until July 8 to receive a report on the outcome.
The suit had sought to stop the release of Nnaji’s records and compel access to his transcript.
The university and its officials challenged the case, citing issues of timing and jurisdiction. The court will revisit those arguments only if the settlement effort does not succeed.
