Senate President Godswill Akpabio has rejected reports claiming that he collapsed and was flown to London for medical attention.

The allegation, which gained traction on Monday across several online platforms, claimed that Akpabio was rushed abroad in a private jet after reportedly collapsing earlier this month.

Responding to the claims, his Consultant on Communications and Strategy, Kenny Okolugbo, described the report as completely false. Speaking to journalists, he dismissed it bluntly, saying, “It’s a lie, fake news,” and declined to give further details.

The reports had alleged that Akpabio’s supposed health condition prevented him from carrying out official duties, including participation in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) interactive session held on Wednesday.

They also claimed that this was not the first time the Senate President had been flown to London for treatment, alleging it was his second medical trip abroad. In addition, the reports suggested that some senators travelled to London to visit him and that doctors advised him to reduce his workload or step aside to focus on his health.

All the claims have been firmly denied by Akpabio’s media team, who insist that the reports are unfounded and misleading.
