APC Dismisses Due Payment For Primary Voting
The All Progressives Congress has announced that members taking part in its ongoing primary elections do not need proof of membership dues payment before voting.
The clarification was issued on May 16, 2026, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. The statement came amid confusion surrounding participation rules in the primaries.
According to the party, every duly registered APC member remains eligible to vote during the exercise.
The leadership explained that the dues requirement only applied to aspirants and their nominators during the submission of nomination forms and screening stages.
It said ordinary members were never expected to present payment evidence before casting votes.
The APC urged party members and stakeholders to ignore reports suggesting otherwise. The party said the clarification was necessary to avoid confusion and ensure that registered members participate freely in the ongoing process.
Officials also called for peaceful conduct during the primaries across the country.
The statement comes as the ruling party continues its internal elections ahead of the 2027 general polls. Party leaders say the aim is to maintain order and prevent unnecessary disputes during the selection of candidates.
The APC added that all eligible members should be allowed to vote without obstruction.
