INEC Issues Warnings To Political Parties On New Deadline
The Independent National Electoral Commission has cautioned political parties against delaying the upload of candidates’ details for the 2027 general elections.
The commission said only nine parties have collected the access codes needed to use its online nomination portal.
The parties that have collected the codes include Accord, Action Alliance, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, Labour Party, National Democratic Congress, National Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party and Social Democratic Party.
INEC said parties must personally obtain the codes with proper authorisation.
The commission reminded political parties to follow its nomination guidelines, adding that party officials had already received training on the process.
It warned that any delay caused by political parties would not be the responsibility of INEC.
According to the election timetable, presidential and National Assembly candidates must be uploaded between June 27 and July 11, while governorship and State House of Assembly candidates will be submitted from July 18 to August 8.
The commission said parties should complete the process early to avoid last-minute problems.
