APC Drops Top Candidates, Changes INEC List
The All Progressives Congress has removed former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, former lawmaker Gbenga Elegbeleye and several other candidates from its final list submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 elections.
The changes also affected 19 House of Representatives candidates across nine states.
The party said the decision followed the recommendations of its Primary Election Appeal Committee.
The National Working Committee approved the report before forwarding the revised list to INEC through a letter signed by National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Ajibola Basiru.
The affected states include Kogi, Abia, Benue, Taraba, Ondo, Niger, Kwara, Kaduna and Ebonyi. New candidates were named for seven senatorial districts, while several House of Representatives candidates were also replaced.
Among the replacements, Emmanuel Udende took over Benue North East from Suswam, while Olajide Ipinsagba replaced Elegbeleye in Ondo North.
The revised list is now the APC’s official submission to INEC for the affected constituencies.
