Saheed Adewale Oriade, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been kidnapped in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The lawmaker was reportedly abducted around 7 p.m. on Wednesday when three armed men forced him into a blue vehicle and sped off in an unknown direction, taking his mobile phone with them.
Confirming the incident, APC chieftain and former House of Assembly candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1, Hon. Tolani Adigun, described the abduction as “unacceptable” and a troubling reflection of the escalating insecurity in the state and across the country.
In a statement to journalists, Tolani urged security agencies at both state and federal levels to act decisively, deploy all necessary resources, and ensure the safe return of Oriade. She emphasised the need to strengthen Oyo State’s security framework, enhance intelligence gathering, and protect the lives and property of residents.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Hon. Oriade’s family during this difficult time,” she said, calling on residents and party members to remain calm as security operatives intensify their efforts.
Tolani further stressed that Oyo State must not be allowed to fall into the hands of criminals and prayed for Oriade’s safe and swift return.
