Atiku Camp Fires Back At Babachir
The media office of African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has responded to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal over his recent comments on the party’s internal affairs.
The reaction follows Lawal’s criticism of Atiku and claims linked to the ADC presidential primary.
The Atiku camp accused Lawal of distorting facts about the party’s nomination process and trying to shift attention away from allegations tied to his conduct during the contest.
It said his remarks were aimed at damaging the image of the former Vice President.
The statement also defended Atiku’s record on national security, saying he has consistently spoken against terrorism, banditry and kidnappings across Nigeria.
It added that he has continued to propose reforms such as stronger local security structures, better intelligence coordination and special courts for terror cases.
The media office further said the ongoing exchange reflects rising tensions within the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
It maintained that Atiku remains focused on national issues while dismissing claims made by Lawal as misleading.
