Atiku Cannot Win 2027 Election – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is free to contest again but will not succeed in the 2027 election.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists during an inspection of road projects in Abuja, responding to Atiku’s criticism of the current administration.
Wike said Atiku’s repeated attempts at the presidency appear to be his main source of political relevance.
He insisted that the next election cycle would not favour the former vice president, adding that his chances remain slim despite his continued interest in the race.
He urged Atiku to compare his time in office with ongoing developments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the Federal Capital Territory has seen clear improvements within a short period.
According to him, ongoing infrastructure projects show visible progress that critics choose to ignore.
The minister also dismissed claims of a strong opposition alliance, arguing that parties should fix internal issues instead of targeting the government.
He maintained that recent electoral performances show the opposition still has a long way to go.
