NANS Criticises Sowore Over Solidarity Walk Clash
The National Association of Nigerian Students, Southwest Zone D, has criticised activist Omoyele Sowore over what it described as an attempt to take control of a solidarity walk organised for abducted students in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
The group said the event was meant to support victims and demand their release.
The solidarity walk, led by NANS President Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, was organised to draw attention to the kidnapping of students and teachers in the area.
The association said the protest was peaceful and focused on student welfare.
NANS Southwest claimed that attempts by outside interests to steer the gathering in a political direction were rejected by students.
It stressed that the organisation remains independent and will not allow its platform to be used for personal or political goals.
The association warned against what it called interference in student-led activities and urged the public to ignore distractions around the incident.
It also restated its commitment to protecting student interests and maintaining unity within the group.
