INEC Targets Inclusive Election In Ekiti
In Ekiti State, the Independent National Electoral Commission has stepped up voter education ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
The move followed a high-level meeting focused on improving awareness, publicity and inclusive participation across the state.
At the meeting, Resident Electoral Commissioner Bunmi Omoseyindemi said voter education is key to a credible poll.
He stressed the need to inform voters, tackle misinformation and build trust in the electoral process.
The commission plans to expand awareness campaigns, reach rural areas and encourage participation among youths, women and persons with disabilities.
It also raised concerns about fake news, voter apathy and possible security risks in some areas.
The National Orientation Agency pledged support through ongoing sensitisation campaigns across local councils.
Stakeholders called for stronger collaboration to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
