Corpse Dumped In Palace Sparks N50m Demand
The village head of Ikot Obong in the Ikpa Ibekwe clan of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, has demanded N50 million in damages after a corpse was reportedly abandoned inside his palace.
Eteidung Gordon Etukeren raised the demand after the body was allegedly dumped at the palace by unidentified persons, an act that shocked residents of the community and disrupted activities in the area.
The traditional leader said the incident exposed him and members of his household to severe emotional distress, while the strong odour from the decomposing body created serious discomfort and health worries for those living around the palace.
He is now seeking compensation for the ordeal, insisting that the incident caused deep trauma for his family and brought an unusual situation to a place meant to serve as a centre of community leadership.
