Court Sets Date In Malami Properties Case
The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed July 2, 2026, for judgment in the case seeking the final forfeiture of 57 properties linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
The case is being handled following allegations surrounding the ownership of the assets. The matter has drawn fresh public attention as the hearing moves towards conclusion.
The court fixed the date after proceedings involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and legal representatives connected to the matter.
The anti-graft agency is asking the court to permanently hand over the properties to the Federal Government. The assets are said to be spread across different locations in the country.
The case centres on claims that the properties were acquired through suspicious means during Malami’s time in office.
Lawyers involved in the proceedings argued over documents and ownership details before the court reserved judgment. The former minister has continued to challenge the forfeiture move.
The ruling is expected to determine the future of the properties and could become one of the major anti-corruption judgments involving a former top government official.
Nigerians are now waiting to see whether the court will approve the final seizure of the assets or dismiss the application.
