Court Voids NDC Registration Order
A Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, has set aside its December 2025 judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
The court ruled on Friday that the earlier decision could not stand.
Justice Isah Dashen held that the previous judgment was flawed because all necessary parties were not given the opportunity to participate in the case.
He agreed that the Peace Movement Party was a necessary party and should have been heard before the decision was reached.
The judge also ruled that important facts were not disclosed when the earlier judgment was obtained, making the proceedings constitutionally defective.
He therefore restored the status quo pending the hearing of the main suit.
Justice Dashen ordered that the case begin afresh with INEC, the Peace Movement Party and the Nigeria Democratic Congress participating as parties in the fresh proceedings.
