Family Questions Recovery Of Late General’s Body In Katsina
The family of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar has asked the Katsina State Government to explain how his body was recovered from bandits while his wife remains in captivity.
His son, Ishaka Rabe Abubakar, raised the concerns in an interview with DW Hausa, where he also confirmed that his mother is still being held by the kidnappers.
The retired officer and his wife were abducted on 30 May while travelling along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Katsina State.
They were attacked near Zakin Baure in Matazu Local Government Area, and their driver was injured during the incident. The general was later confirmed dead while still in captivity.
Ishaka said the family has received no clear explanation on how his father’s body was brought out of the bandits’ den and returned for burial.
He said questions from the public after the funeral announcement left the family confused and that only authorities could clarify the situation.
He also spoke about his father’s life, describing him as peaceful and religious, and said the family believes he died in a state of honour.
He confirmed that reports claiming his mother had been freed are false, adding that she remains in the hands of the abductors.
