Willie Obiano, the former governor of Anambra State, is reportedly deceased.
Although his death has not been officially confirmed as of this report, Sahara Reporters stated that Obiano passed away in a London hospital.
His personal publicist, Mr Tony Nezianya, said he had not received any such information.
He remarked, “I can’t confirm to you; I’m not aware of such news.”
Obiano served as governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeding Peter Obi, who is the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Born on 8 August 1955, Obiano hailed from Aguleri in the Anambra East Local Government Area.
It is recalled that he is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged fraud involving N4 billion. Further details will follow.
