Former Chief of Staff to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Major General Abdullahi Adangba Muhammed (rtd.), has passed away at the age of 86. He reportedly died on Wednesday morning at his Kaduna residence.
Widely known as Adangba, the late general served as Military Governor of the old Benue-Plateau State between 1975 and February 1976 during the regime of General Murtala Mohammed.
Born in Ilorin, Kwara State, the retired officer was the founder of the defunct National Security Organisation (NSO), which later evolved into the Department of State Services (DSS), between 1976 and 1979.
Recognised for his intelligence and dedication, Abdullahi Mohammed also served as Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua from 1999 to 2008. He had earlier held the position of National Security Adviser (NSA) to General Abdusalami Abubakar from 1998 to 1999.
