If Elected, I’ll Negotiate With Bandits Who Seek Peace – Obi
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has said he would combine dialogue and decisive action to tackle insecurity if elected president in 2027.
He said individuals willing to embrace peace would be engaged, while those who continue criminal activities would face the law.
Speaking during an interview, Obi explained that lasting peace requires giving people an opportunity to abandon violence and return to productive lives.
He argued that societies grow stronger when they allow rehabilitation and reintegration for those who genuinely seek change.
To support his position, the former Anambra State governor referenced experiences he observed abroad, noting that people who had previously made mistakes were able to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society.
He said such examples show the importance of offering a path to redemption.
Obi also linked security to national unity, saying every region and ethnic group must feel included in governance.
According to him, his vision for Nigeria is built on fairness, equal opportunity and inclusive leadership, with no group left out of national development.
