INEC Releases Election Materials For Rivers By-election
The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun the distribution of sensitive materials ahead of the Rivers South-East senatorial district bye-election scheduled for Saturday.
The process is part of final preparations for the vote across seven local government areas in the state.
The election is being held to replace a late senator who represented the district until his death earlier in the year.
A total of 858,573 registered voters are expected to take part in the exercise across 1,629 polling units.
Sensitive materials, including ballot papers and result sheets, were inspected at the Central Bank of Nigeria facility in Port Harcourt before being moved to designated locations.
Party representatives from major political parties observed the process to ensure transparency.
Electoral officials said the materials were intact and ready for distribution to local government areas and registration centres.
They added that the inspection was meant to build confidence among stakeholders ahead of the poll.
