INEC Sets Date For Final Voter Registration
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the last phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration will start on May 11, 2026.
The move is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections. It signals a fresh push to get more eligible Nigerians into the voter register.
The commission said the exercise marks the third and final stage of the registration process across the country.
It is expected to give citizens who have not registered another chance to obtain their voter cards. Officials say the exercise will run nationwide with centres open to the public.
The development comes as electoral activities begin to gather pace ahead of the polls. INEC has been rolling out timelines to guide political parties, candidates and voters.
The registration drive is seen as key to boosting participation in the elections.
The commission urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the exercise and complete their registration.
It added that the process is important to ensure wider inclusion and a credible electoral process in 2027.
