IPOB Sends Warning To Soludo
The Indigenous People of Biafra has issued a warning to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo over his stance against traders who observed the Monday sit-at-home across parts of the state in support of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The warning was made public on Monday, January 26, 2026, in a statement released by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful, following the state government’s decision to shut down Onitsha Main Market for one week after many traders refused to open their shops.
Governor Soludo ordered the closure during an unscheduled visit to the market on Monday, where he noted that traders had ignored the government’s directive ending sit-at-home actions.
He directed that the market remain closed until the following week and warned that stricter measures would await traders who fail to resume business when it reopens.
IPOB praised residents for complying with the sit-at-home, describing the action as peaceful and driven by conscience.
The group said the protest showed the resolve of the people to demand justice and added that dignity is more valuable than money, and that sacrifice is sometimes required in the pursuit of justice and freedom.
IPOB urged Soludo to focus on pushing for Kanu’s release, insisting that the sit-at-home remains a non-violent form of civil disobedience and that democracy should protect freedom of thought, conscience, and lawful protest rather than punish it.
