The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has issued a warning regarding the alleged ongoing genocide said to be targeting Christian believers in Nigeria.

There has been an intense and worldwide discussion concerning the allegation of genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

Some legislators in the United States, supported by President Donald Trump, stated that Christians in Nigeria are being persecuted simply for believing in Jesus Christ.

Despite objections raised by officials of the Nigerian government, Trump classified the country as a Country of Particular Concerns, CPC, and accompanied this with a threat of military intervention aimed at stopping the alleged massacre of Christians.

A delegation from the United States Congress recently travelled to Nigeria to investigate the killing of Christians across the country, with particular concern about incidents in the Middle Belt.

Trump has not yet announced the next course of action following the visit of the lawmakers to Nigeria.

Israel ended its silence on the matter on Wednesday, as Netanyahu, in his Christmas message, stated that attacks against Christians or followers of any religion would no longer be tolerated.

He stated, “From Jerusalem, I send warm greetings to our Christian friends around the world. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From here, the Holy Land, Israel, is the only country in the Middle East where the Christian community is thriving.

“Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Christians can practise their faith with full rights and in total freedom, where Christian pilgrims are embraced with open arms and are so deeply appreciated, where Christians can proudly celebrate their traditions and openly do so without any fear.

“The persecution of Christians or members of any religion cannot and must not be tolerated. And the displacement of Muslim militants and attacks against Christians in Nigeria, that too must end. And it must end now”.
