Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has cut ties with the Peoples Democratic Party, ending his long association with the platform that powered his rise in Osun politics.

His departure became public after he shared a post on his X handle late Monday night, attaching a resignation letter dated November 4 and sent to the PDP Ward 2 chairman in Sagba Abogunde, Ede North. The document had already been acknowledged by the ward leadership.

Adeleke rooted his decision in the turmoil shaking the party at the top, pointing to the unresolved national leadership crisis as the trigger for his exit. His letter carried the line: “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect.”

He also reflected on his political journey under the PDP, noting that the party opened the door for his election as senator for Osun West between 2017 and 2019 and later as governor. He wrote: “I thank the Peoples Democratic Party for the opportunity given to me for my election as Senator and as Governor of Osun State under the PDP.”

Adeleke did not reveal his next destination, leaving observers guessing about the political structure he plans to align with after leaving the PDP.
