Kwara Mornach Son Gains Freedom After Ransome Payment
The release happened on Monday in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, where the son of the Oniwo of Afin, Oba Simeon Olanipekun, regained freedom after days in captivity following a violent abduction.
The victim, Olaolu, a serving National Youth Service Corps member, was freed after his family paid N20 million to the kidnappers. He was later found around a herders’ settlement near Oreke and taken to a nearby military base before being reunited with relatives.
The abduction took place when gunmen attacked the community and seized the monarch, his son, and other residents, triggering fear and tension across the area as families waited anxiously for news.
Despite the prince’s release, the monarch remains in captivity alongside other abductees. The kidnappers are said to be demanding an additional N15 million before considering his release, prolonging uncertainty for the community.
Olaolu is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital after experiencing physical stress and emotional trauma during his ordeal, while efforts continue to secure the freedom of those still held.
