Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Sule Lamido has declared that no right-thinking Northerner would support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a meeting of the PDP expanded caucus in Dutse, Jigawa State, Lamido accused successive All Progressives Congress (APC) administrations of plunging Nigerians into poverty, insecurity, and hardship, describing their rule as marked by “hardship, deceit, and betrayal.”
“We have been telling people Tinubu does not like the North, he doesn’t like anything that will help in developing the North. During his tenure as Governor of Lagos, Northerners were maltreated, attacked, and killed,” Lamido said.
“In 2023, both the ACF, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, and other meaningful associations didn’t support Tinubu. He used money to influence his support and win the election. We warned people not to entrust him. They refused to listen and are now paying the consequences of their actions. It’s quite unfortunate for any Northerner to support Tinubu’s reelection bid despite the position he is holding, minister, governor, House of Representatives, among others. I don’t think a right-thinking person from the North will support Tinubu’s reelection bid again in the coming 2027 election.”
Lamido urged Nigerians to unite beyond political, religious, and regional divides to rescue the country, expressing optimism that ongoing developments in the PDP would restore the party to strength and position it to “do anything possible to save the country.”
