Ogun State Government has announced that free entry to the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex will end on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
The announcement was made Thursday by Mr. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The governor expressed gratitude to tourists and visitors for the unprecedented turnout since the complex reopened, noting that it reflects his administration’s commitment to transforming Olumo Rock into a world-class tourist destination.
Abiodun explained that the free access initiative was designed to help visitors rediscover and appreciate the cultural and historical significance of Olumo Rock. “This objective has been fully achieved with thousands taking advantage of the initiative,” he said.
However, he raised concerns over overcrowding and public safety during peak visitation, adding, “At certain points, the crowd posed risks that could have led to a stampede but for the swift intervention of security agencies and on-site personnel.”
In light of these concerns, the governor directed that the free entry policy will conclude on Saturday, August 23.
