The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South while maintaining the current National Working Committee (NWC) zoning arrangement ahead of the party’s elective convention in November.
The decision was part of the resolutions adopted during the PDP’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday in Abuja.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the resolution was based on a report presented by the Zoning Committee chaired by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri.
Ologunagba explained that NEC approved the retention of all existing NWC positions in their current zones.
“Since the National Chairman of the party is from the North, the PDP 2027 presidential ticket is hereby zoned to the South,” Ologunagba announced, adding that the NEC also expressed satisfaction with preparations for the upcoming convention.
