Police Arrest JAMB Coordinator In Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Eric Nwombu for allegedly posing as a JAMB coordinator and collecting examination materials from students.
The suspect was picked up on April 14 in Atani after complaints from a cyber café where candidates had gone to check their exam centres.
Police said items recovered from him included eight UTME slips and a notebook containing names and exam numbers of students.
He was unable to give a clear explanation for possessing the materials, raising suspicion among staff at the centre who alerted authorities.
According to reports, the suspect tried to escape when officers arrived but was quickly arrested.
He had earlier claimed to be an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, a claim that is now under investigation.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further inquiry.
Police authorities urged the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities, adding that efforts are ongoing to protect the integrity of public examinations.
