President Bola Tinubu Signs New NIMC Act 2026 Into Law
The President announced the signing of the NIMC Act 2026 into law, describing it as the beginning of a new phase for Nigeria’s identity management system.
He said Nigeria’s identity management system had operated for almost two decades under legislation designed for a different period, adding that the new law marks a fresh direction.
According to him, the Act introduces a modern, secure and digital framework for managing the country’s identity system.
He added that the legislation supports the government’s long-term economic vision as Nigeria works towards becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
