Reps Push FG To Action On Aviation Fuel
Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to urgently tackle the rising cost of aviation fuel, warning that it is putting pressure on airlines and passengers across the country.
The appeal came during plenary as lawmakers raised concerns over the steady increase in fares.
The lawmakers said the surge in aviation fuel prices is driving up operating costs for domestic airlines, with ripple effects on ticket prices.
They noted that many travellers are already feeling the strain, while airlines face growing difficulty staying afloat.
They explained that the situation is linked to broader economic issues, including foreign exchange challenges and supply constraints.
According to them, without swift action, the sector could face deeper disruptions that may affect connectivity and business activities.
The House urged the government to step in with measures to stabilise fuel supply and reduce costs.
It also called for policies that would support the aviation industry and ease the burden on both operators and passengers.
