The Senate has rejected Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s bid to return to plenary, maintaining that her six-month suspension remains in effect until the Court of Appeal decides on her case.

In a letter signed by Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate confirmed it received notice from the Kogi Central lawmaker stating her intention to resume on September 4, 2025, which she considered the end of her suspension.

However, the Senate clarified that her suspension took effect on March 6, 2025, and stressed that the issue is already before the appellate court.

“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the letter read.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March over allegations of breaching Senate standing orders. While the Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the suspension, she has appealed the decision.

The letter further noted that the Senate will only reconsider her suspension after the Court of Appeal delivers its judgment.
