Senator Seriake Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, is reportedly preparing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Insiders close to the former governor revealed that he is considering joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his new political platform.
Dickson, known for his vocal opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Senate, is believed to have quietly fostered connections with the ADC.
Sources say he has supported the appointment of several politicians to key ADC positions, indicating ongoing ties with the party.
Political insiders suggest that uncertainty over securing the PDP ticket for another Senate term might be motivating Dickson to switch to the ADC, where he could run without internal party obstacles.
They also maintain that Dickson possesses the network, resources, and longstanding influence to win in his senatorial district regardless of his party affiliation.
However, some local Bayelsa politicians argue that the ADC lacks broad acceptance in the state.
They contend that while Dickson can secure victory based on his own strength, he would not be able to sway results in other districts if he departs from the PDP.
The senator has yet to make any public announcement, leaving his ultimate decision uncertain.
