Yoruba Nation activist Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo made a historic visit to the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Saturday, reaffirming his commitment to securing the South-West region. Accompanied by prominent Yoruba traditional rulers, chiefs, and supporters, Igboho expressed concern over the rising insecurity in Yorubaland, declaring it his top priority. He sought the Ooni’s support to champion this cause and appealed for assistance in removing his name from security watchlists and unfreezing his bank accounts, highlighting the monarch’s pivotal role in securing his release from imprisonment in Benin Republic.
During the emotional visit, Igboho publicly apologized for past remarks against the Ooni, expressing deep regret and gratitude for the monarch’s forgiveness and support. The Ooni, in response, praised Igboho’s humility and urged him to remain patient, emphasizing unity for Yorubaland’s progress. Other traditional rulers, including the Attah of Ayede-Ekiti and the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, commended Igboho’s remorse and assured him of their support. The Ooni also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and expressed confidence in his commitment to Yoruba causes, reinforcing the call for collective efforts to advance the region’s interests.
“You are my son, and I am not angry with you. You are a pride to the Yoruba race. Some advised me against receiving you in Ife, but I told them what you are doing is not for yourself alone.
“Let us put aside fights and unite for the progress of Yorubaland,” the Ooni declared.
