President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a meeting with the newly appointed service chiefs at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting, which took place behind closed doors, occurred three days after the announcement of their appointments and served as the President’s first official interaction with the new military leadership.
According to the presidency, the appointments were part of a strategic reorganisation aimed at strengthening professionalism, improving morale, and promoting better inter-agency coordination in national security efforts.
Those present at the meeting included the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas.
Also in attendance was the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye, who retained his role.
While the details of the President’s address to the service chiefs were not immediately disclosed, sources at the Villa revealed that the discussions focused on key security priorities, ongoing counterterrorism operations, and the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the nation.
