Tinubu Resuffles Power Sector, Appoints New Minister
Bola Tinubu has moved to restructure Nigeria’s power sector after months of blackouts.
He nominated Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and appointed Lanre Babalola as special adviser to lead a reform task force.
The nomination follows the exit of former minister Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions.
Tegbe is expected to bring his experience in economic reforms to improve electricity supply and attract investment.
Babalola will head a presidential task force focused on fixing structural problems in the sector.
The team is expected to deliver quick reforms, improve efficiency, and address losses affecting the electricity system.
The presidency said the changes aim to stabilise the grid, boost performance, and drive faster results.
A restructuring of energy roles was also announced to reduce overlap and improve coordination.
