The United States Embassy in Abuja has cautioned Nigerians that involvement in visa fraud may result in severe penalties, including a permanent ban from entering the United States.
In a message posted on its official X account on Monday, the embassy urged visa applicants to avoid providing false information or submitting counterfeit documents during the application process.
“Visa fraud has serious consequences. Lying or providing fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans under U.S. immigration law,” the embassy warned.
This alert coincided with a meeting between the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Richard Mills, and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Yusuf Tuggar, where they discussed bilateral relations and potential areas of cooperation.
The embassy added, “The United States looks forward to continuing to work together with Nigeria on issues of mutual concern.”
