President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has strongly criticized opposition leader Peter Obi for remarks seen as endorsing possible U.S. military intervention in Nigeria.
In a post on X, Onanuga stated, “We shall never forget and forgive Peter Obi for supporting a foreign invasion of Nigeria,” describing the comments as unbecoming of a political figure.
The backlash comes after a video surfaced in which Obi allegedly said, “If Donald Trump said he will invade Nigeria, I will welcome it with open arms because security is my priority.”
Onanuga accused the former Labour Party presidential candidate of showing a disregard for Nigeria’s sovereignty and warned that the government would not ignore such statements.
