2027 Election Won’t Be A Repeat Of Ekiti’s Election – Opposition
The NDC, ADC and SDP have dismissed the APC’s claim that its victories in the Ekiti governorship election and recent by-elections guarantee success in the 2027 general election.
The opposition parties said the contests were limited in scope and could not predict the outcome of a nationwide poll.
They argued that the Ekiti election recorded low voter turnout and reflected local political factors rather than the national mood.
The parties also said stronger alliances, better voter mobilisation and improved party structures would shape the 2027 elections differently.
The opposition criticised the conduct of the elections, alleging vote-buying, intimidation and technical problems in some areas.
The NDC and ADC rejected the results in their respective contests, while the SDP questioned the credibility of the electoral process despite improvements in logistics.
The APC, however, maintained that the victories reflected growing public support for President Bola Tinubu and the party.
It expressed confidence that ongoing reviews and future preparations would strengthen its chances in the 2027 general election.
