Anambra State Government Arrests 4 Illegal Revenue Collectors At Awka, Enugwu-Ukwu, Onitsha

Anambra State Government, through the State Internal Revenue Service, AIRS, has arrested four illegal revenue collectors at UNIZIK Temp Site Awka, Enugwu-Ukwu; in Njikoka Local Government Area, and Onitsha respectively.

Speaking after parading the suspects in Awka, the Commander of the AIRS Special Squad, Mr. Nathan Obikwelu, said that the illegal revenue collectors were terrorizing and extorting money from commercial motorcyclists and motorists, as well as selling illegal tickets in the various locations mentioned.

Mr. Obikwelu made it clear that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration has banned all forms of illegal revenue collections across the state, and selling of tickets under any guise, thanking the Chairman of AIRS, Dr. Greg Ezeilo for his support to the squad in carrying out enforcement.

He said that all the suspects would be charged to court immediately to serve as deterrent to others, assuring that the squad will continue to flush the criminals out of the state.

Those arrested were; Ilodika Anunobi; from Enugwu-Ukwu, Chidiogo Ikomu; from Onitsha, Ndubuisi Ituma; from Ebonyi State, as well as Ossy Omaba; from Enugu State.
