APC Suspends Senator Echocho After Primary Loss
The All Progressives Congress in Odu Ward 2, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, has suspended Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho over alleged anti-party activities.
The action came days after he lost the party’s senatorial primary election in Kogi East.
Ward executives accused the senator of holding meetings with opposition figures and allegedly planning to dump the APC after failing to secure the party’s ticket.
Party leaders said his actions threatened unity and could weaken the APC ahead of future elections.
The suspension letter, signed by ward officials after a meeting held on May 26, 2026, also accused Echocho of failing to strengthen the party during previous governorship elections in the state.
Some members claimed his leadership over the past eight years disappointed many supporters in the district.
Party stakeholders backed the suspension, describing it as a move to protect discipline and stability within the APC.
Leaders in the area also warned members against activities capable of creating division within the ruling party.
