US Confirms Killing Of ISIS Deputy In Nigeria
The United States has announced the death of a senior Islamic State leader described as the group’s second-in-command and linked to attacks on Christians in Nigeria and other regions.
The update was shared by US officials following recent counterterrorism operations.
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the militant leader was eliminated during targeted operations against ISIS networks.
He noted that the individual played a key role in coordinating violent activities carried out by the group.
According to the statement, the operation was part of ongoing efforts by the United States and its partners to weaken extremist groups operating across Africa and the Middle East.
Officials say such actions aim to disrupt planning and reduce the group’s operational capacity.
The announcement has drawn attention to continued global efforts to counter insurgent activities, particularly those linked to attacks on civilians and religious communities.
US authorities say operations against remaining ISIS structures will continue.
