Atiku Criticizes Tinubu Over Hardship
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Friday criticised the economic policies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the reforms have worsened living conditions across Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the policies have failed to ease the burden on citizens.
He said many Nigerians are now struggling to cope with rising prices and shrinking incomes.
According to him, households are cutting down on meals, while businesses are shutting down due to economic pressure. He added that the reforms have brought hardship without offering a clear way out.
Atiku also challenged Tinubu’s stance on privatisation, arguing that his past positions contradict current policies.
He said he had long supported the sale of state-owned assets, including oil sector reforms, while accusing the current administration of lacking transparency in its approach.
Defending his time in office, Atiku pointed to companies that emerged from earlier reforms as proof of success.
He also criticised the tone of the President’s remarks, saying it reflects a leadership style focused more on attacks than addressing the country’s economic challenges.
