Bandits Sets Demands For Ex Army General Return
Fresh concerns have emerged in Katsina State after armed bandits holding retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife laid down conditions for their freedom.
The couple was abducted last weekend while travelling along the Matazu Highway, with the kidnappers now seeking concessions before releasing them.
The demands surfaced in a video circulated on Saturday, showing the former Director of Defence Information and his wife appealing to government officials for help.
The captors reportedly want some detained members of their group freed and livestock earlier seized by authorities returned to them.
In the footage, the retired general’s wife appealed to Governor Dikko Umar Radda and local government chairmen in Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Charanchi and Kusada to intervene.
She said the kidnappers identified several detained associates and insisted on their release alongside confiscated cows and goats.
The abduction occurred when gunmen intercepted the couple’s vehicle and took them to an unknown location.
As of the time of reporting, security agencies and government authorities had not publicly responded to the demands made by the kidnappers.
