CAN Halts Night Programmes To Protect Oyo Worshippers
The Christian Association of Nigeria in Oyo State has directed churches across the 33 local government areas to suspend late-night activities following growing security concerns.
The body said the move is aimed at protecting worshippers and church property amid rising cases of kidnapping and other crimes.
The decision follows recent abduction incidents, including the kidnapping of dozens of teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area.
CAN urged churches to strengthen security by deploying trained personnel and installing surveillance equipment within their premises.
The association also advised churches to prioritise perimeter fencing, carry out proper screening of security workers and avoid sheltering unknown persons in church buildings.
Members were encouraged to pray for the safe release of those still in captivity.
CAN further urged residents to avoid unnecessary late-night movement and obey existing restrictions on commercial motorcycle operations.
The group praised ongoing rescue efforts by security agencies but called for stronger action to secure the release of all abducted victims.
