The Nigeria Customs Service has announced another extension for companies operating under the Fast Track Scheme to migrate to the Authorised Economic Operator Programme.

The compliance deadline has now shifted from 31 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, giving operators an extra month to complete the transition.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Service said the extension reflects its commitment to boosting trade efficiency, protecting the supply chain, and improving alignment with international standards.

According to the statement, “Consequently, all existing Fast Track beneficiaries who are yet to complete their migration are advised to initiate and conclude their AEO applications through the official platform: aeo.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng.”

It noted that the revised date offers businesses more time to meet the necessary conditions and obtain AEO certification without interrupting their ongoing operations.

The statement added, “The extended timeline provides operators with ample opportunity to meet programme requirements and secure AEO certification without disruption to their business operations.”

Operators were encouraged to contact the designated AEO helpdesk for support, enquiries, or technical guidance.

The Customs Service reiterated that only companies that complete the AEO transition will continue to enjoy the facilitation incentives previously attached to the Fast Track Scheme.

The AEO Programme, recognised globally, provides trusted traders with benefits such as faster cargo processing, reduced documentation, minimal physical inspections, pre-arrival clearance, and improved predictability in cross-border trade.

The Service emphasised that the new deadline underscores its resolve to ensure a smooth migration for all stakeholders.

It also explained that the transition is in line with the World Customs Organisation’s SAFE Framework and Sections 108–111 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.

To support compliance, the NCS will convene another broad Stakeholders Engagement Forum, which will offer live demonstrations of the application process and address any migration or compliance challenges.

The statement added, “To further support stakeholders and sustain ongoing sensitisation efforts, the Service will convene another comprehensive Stakeholders Engagement Forum to provide practical guidance on the migration process, demonstrate application procedures, and address compliance-related concerns.”
